Affirming Confidence in Our Lord
“The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? When the wicked came against me to eat up my flesh, my enemies and foes,
They stumbled and fell. Though an army may encamp against me, my heart shall not fear; though war may rise against me, in this I will be confident.” (Psalms 27:1-3)
As a child I was always on the lookout. It seemed I always had a nag to find or attract kids who did not like me at all, and were always beating me up; so I was constantly in fear of the unknown and afraid of what I knew, until, one day, my cousin saw me hurting and he asked me what had happened, I told him, not expecting to be defended or protected, since I knew not what that was or meant, but he did take the initiative to go after those who were hurting me. Right after that, I walked so sure of myself, not afraid or in fear, because I knew my cousin would watch over me.
Before I met Jesus, I was fearful of being left alone with the responsibility of watching over my little brothers. My mother had always feared my father would not come back and she would be left alone with us, and that fear was passed on to me, always insecure and with no direction in life. Until one day The Lord came to me and became my light and my salvation. I can identify myself with King David when he declares with such assurance and confidence, “The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?” As The Lord has always promised to all his servants, He will be with us always, He will never leave us nor forsake us; The fact that you know you have been saved from eternal death and you know Who has saved you and gives you strength, you can face any adversity, great or small, known or unknown, with the affirming confidence in your Lord, who is your Light and your Salvation.
Blessings I pray to all!!!
